This is the story that I tell to illustrate my ideas about trauma informed care. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. This is my initial draft for my “Ideas That Ignite” class where I am attempting to take 40 years of professional experience and boil them down to one idea that I convey concisely. I’m a work in progress, but its all true and its fun to boot.
This story is an adaptation from a chapter in my book “Bulletproof Therapist: My Clinical Adventures in Israel, Palestine, Northern Ireland, and Inner City Boston.” My hope is learning these new skills will help me finish the book and help promote it once its done. As always, feedback is encouraged.
